The popular open-air swim­ming pool in Cossebaude with its 45,000 square meters swim­ming area stret­ches along the wes­tern city limits of Dresden directly at a reser­voir. The spa­cious area with a won­derful, chestnut-fringed sun­bathing lawn invites you to sun­bathe and relax. In addi­tion to the 485 square meter non-swimmer’s pool with water mush­room, a giant slide pro­vides lots of bathing fun. An extra paddling pool with 180 square meters of sur­face area lures the very young guests into the cool water. The faci­lity also offers a wide range of pos­si­bi­li­ties, among other things, visi­tors can try out various sports on the indi­vi­dual pit­ches. If you want, you can also have wind­sur­fing les­sons on the reservoir.

In Saxony’s first adven­ture pool, guests can have fun on over 600 square meters of water sur­face. An 80-meter-long giant slide is wai­ting to be con­quered just as much as the sports and adven­ture pool, the hot whirl­pool or the flow channel. The tro­pical sun­bathing garden or the sauna lure you to relax. Ori­gi­nally, the pool was planned as a stan­dard swim­ming hall for the Gor­bitz resi­den­tial area in the west of Dresden. The slide is not only great fun because of the effect lighting, but at 93 meters it is also the lon­gest of its kind in Dresden. Several attrac­tions ensure that there is no time for boredom in the indoor swim­ming pool. For the little ones there is a sepa­rate paddling pool with a mini-slide. In the sauna land­scape “Swea­ting bet­ween Old Mas­ters”, guests can relax in the five themed saunas. Two restau­rants round off the offer in the Georg-Arn­hold-Bad. This pool looks back on a long history. Lar­gely paid for by the sports sponsor Georg Arn­hold, it was initi­ally built purely as an open-air pool until 1926. The indoor pool was only added in the 1990s, when the entire com­plex was trans­formed into an adven­ture pool.

The out­door swim­ming pool in Prohlis in the south of Dresden has been com­ple­tely rede­si­gned and, tog­e­ther with the indoor swim­ming pool there, forms the Prohlis com­bined pool. In addi­tion to a 25-meter swim­ming pool, the out­door pool area includes an adven­ture pool and a bathing area for younger visi­tors. In addi­tion to a wide slide, guests can also use the two giant tube slides at the swim­ming pool. Num­e­rous sports options offer ever­y­thing you need for an active day at the out­door pool. Large sun­bathing areas and a higher sun ter­race also pro­vide plenty of oppor­tu­ni­ties to relax.

The Cotta out­door pool in the west of Dresden is popular with all age groups and has a 620 square meter stain­less steel pool for bathing fun, inclu­ding three 25-meter lanes. The little bathing guests have their own paddling pool. Sun wor­ship­pers will find a nice spot on the large sun­bathing lawn. The play­ground makes children’s hearts beat faster, as does the wide slide and the water mush­room. For “water bombs” and “pike” there is a three-meter tower and a one-meter diving board. In the year of its 100th anni­ver­sary, the Cotta out­door pool was reopened in 2013 after it had been exten­si­vely renovated.

In the east of Dresden, not far from the Elbe cycle path, you will find the moder­nized out­door pool Wostra. From the hig­hest diving tower of the city in the open-air, the brave ones can dare to jump from the “Five”, “Three” or “One”. Swim­mers swim their 50-meter lanes in the large com­bi­na­tion pool. Non-swim­mers and children will also get their money’s worth in the Wostra. The exten­sive, well-tended lawn invites you to relax and linger. A lovingly desi­gned play­ground and a paddling pool with an ele­phant slide are a par­ti­cular delight for our very young guests. Ori­gi­nally the open-air pool was built in 1930 on the initia­tive of the “Wochenend- und Strand­bad­ge­sell­schaft” — hence the name “Wostra”.

The popular Georg-Arn­hold-Bad is located directly at the Großer Garten in the center of Dresden. In addi­tion to the modern, family-fri­endly indoor swim­ming pool with a huge sauna land­scape, it also has a large out­door pool with a long tra­di­tion (opened in 1926, lar­gely paid for by banker Georg Arn­hold). The solar-heated 25-meter swim­ming pool with six lanes offers very good con­di­tions for various water fun acti­vi­ties. The 18-meter slide (wide) is just as much fun for bathers as the four-season pool with a cur­rent channel. Even the youn­gest children will have the chance to cool off in the paddling pool with children’s slide and on the mud play­ground. The large out­door area with many shady trees invites you to sun­bathe and relax. In the reno­vated atrium, the chan­ging rooms, sani­tary faci­li­ties and various sea­ting arran­ge­ments are arranged around the his­toric foun­tain from the early days.
